About Us – Star Rinjani Trekking
My name is Sardi, I am 26 years old and I live in Senaru Village, exactly at the foot of Mount Rinjani. The entrance to Mount Rinjani is right in front of my house (Sasak Traditional Village).
I have been working as a Mount Rinjani guide since I was 17 years old. My purpose was to save enough money to continue my education because my family was not in a good economical condition. I am one of the inhabitants of a Sasak Traditional Village where the indigenous peoples live. I also know the local culture and help you with information of what you can or can not do during your stay in Mount Rinjani area.
I am grateful for the many guests who come to climb Mount Rinjani and gave me thousands of hiking experiences. From these experiences I know many things about the ascent, or situation during hiking for safety, when guests need to rest at a good place.
My wife Karni also has many experiences as a Soft Trekking Guide (Panorama Walk) introducing the indigenous peoples and cultures in our place to visitors. With her purpose to help the family economically and to inspire the women in our village.
In the past, women in our village were not allowed to work outside their home and to study. But now many are working to support their children education expenses. Therefore in addition to guide my wife also invites children to our place to study and read.
We want Mount Rinjani to remain a good tourism place, clean, and comfortable for visitors. Mount Rinjani has been providing our village with resources and a better future in the tourism industry. Compare to the pas where everybody only worked in the rice fields and vineyards as livelihood.
Hopefully Mount Rinjani remains beautiful and more developed in the future. May the local people and all visitors can conserve the nature so we can enjoy Mount Rinjani for along period of time. And the next generation will be able to see the good work that we have done to them.
